Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Jordanian Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (JSEDM), it is my great pleasure to warmly invite you to participate in the 13th International Congress of the Jordanian Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, held jointly with the Hellenic Endocrine Society for the second time.

The congress will take place from 18–20 November 2026 at Le Royal Hotel, Amman, Jordan, bringing together distinguished experts, physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from Jordan, Greece, the region, and around the world.

The scientific program will cover important and evolving topics in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, including diabetes epidemiology, genetics, therapeutics and complications, obesity, thyroid disorders, pituitary, adrenal and parathyroid diseases, osteoporosis and bone health, endocrine disorders in pregnancy, and pediatric endocrinology.

The congress will also feature interactive workshops on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and Carbohydrate Counting and Insulin Dosing in Type 1 Diabetes, offering valuable opportunities for practical learning and exchange of experience.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

1. Abstracts must be written exclusively in good English/Arabic, clearly showing the content to be presented. Length should not exceed 250 words; the font should be TIMES NEW ROMAN and the size to be 12.
2. The Title has to be brief, and short and describe the presentation in capital letters, not to exceed 20 words.
3. State-specific objectives of the study.
4. State method used.
5. Summarize results obtained and conclusions reached.
6. Standard abbreviations can be used. Special or unusual abbreviations are not recommended. If otherwise necessary, the latter should be placed in parenthesis after the first appearance of the full word, except for unit symbols. Numeral rather than words may be used to indicate numbers.
7. References are not required for abstract submission.
8. The author’s names have to be mentioned preceded by initials. Please underline the Presenting Author of the Abstract.
9. The presenting author should register at the congress.
10. State institutional affiliations.
11. A correspondence mailing address and name of the presenter, together with authors’ Email, telephone and fax numbers should be included.
12. Authors will be notified regarding acceptance and the method of presentation.

Dr. Roberto Salgado

Board certified in Anatomical Pathology since 2006 and works as an Anatomic Pathologist in ZAS Hospitals, Antwerp, Belgium. He is an Honorary Research Associate at the Division of Research at the Peter Mac Callum Cancer Center, Melbourne, Australia, and is part of the Tracer-X Consortium at the Francis Crick Institute, UK, aiming to decipher clonal evolutionary immune pressures in lung cancer. He currently co-chairs, with Sherene Loi and Carsten Denkert, the International Immuno-Oncology Biomarkers Working Group, which develops guidelines for assessing immuno-oncological biomarkers, mostly in breast cancer. The pathologist-driven working group includes more than 900 pathologists from 59 countries and develops tools to support implementation of TILs in daily and clinical-trial practice, including artificial-intelligence assays for immune biomarkers. His strategic views on oncology have been published in Nature Reviews Clinical Oncology, Nature Reviews Drug Discovery, and The Lancet Oncology; his research has appeared in Nature, The Lancet Oncology, The Lancet, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Nature Medicine. He is a member of the WHO Editorial Board for the WHO Classification of Breast Tumours. His academic H-index is 98 and his work has been cited more than 45,000 times.

Dr. Emad Rakha

Professor of Breast Pathology at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, and an internationally recognized expert in breast cancer pathology. His work focuses on breast cancer diagnostics, prognostic and predictive biomarkers, digital pathology, and translational cancer research. He has authored numerous high-impact scientific publications and made significant contributions to advancing breast cancer classification, pathology reporting standards, and personalized patient care. He is widely regarded as a leading authority in breast pathology and digital pathology innovation.

Dr. Maher A. Sughayer

President of the Jordan Society of Pathology and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Amman, Jordan. A Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), he is a leading authority in diagnostic pathology and laboratory medicine. He has played a pivotal role in advancing pathology practice, cancer diagnostics, quality assurance, and pathology education in Jordan and the region, while contributing extensively to research, professional training, and international collaborations.

Dr. Ayat Al-Oqaily

Histopathology Consultant at King Abdullah University Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan. She completed advanced fellowship training in Molecular Pathology and Endocrine Pathology at IPATIMUP, University of Porto, Portugal. Her clinical expertise includes endocrine, molecular, and surgical pathology, with particular research interests in thyroid, parathyroid, and gynecologic pathology. She integrates morphologic, immunohistochemical, cytogenetic, and molecular techniques to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care. She is actively involved in pathology education, research, and the development of molecular diagnostic services.

Dr. Iyad Sultan

Chief Health Informatics Officer and a faculty member in Pediatrics, specializing in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. He completed fellowships in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Medical University of South Carolina, USA, and General Pediatrics at the State University of New York, USA. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Jordan and a member of the Cancer Care Informatics Program at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Jordan. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, with interests spanning pediatric cancer care, clinical informatics, digital health, and healthcare innovation.

Dr. Nidal Al Masri

Consultant Hematopathologist and Professor of Pathology at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Jordan. He specializes in hematopathology, molecular pathology, and diagnostic pathology, with particular expertise in leukemia, lymphomas, and flow cytometry. An active researcher, he has authored numerous publications focused on lymphoma and hematologic malignancies in the Middle East. He also serves as Director of Training and Fellowship Programs at KHCC, playing a key role in pathology education, professional development, and specialist training.

Dr. Omar Khalil Hamdan

Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Pathologist. Chairman, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Specialty Hospital, Amman, Jordan. Assistant Professor of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Mutah University, Jordan.

Dr. Nisreen Abu Shahin

Professor of Pathology at the School of Medicine, The University of Jordan, in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Forensic Medicine. She is an academic pathologist with interests in histopathology, renal pathology, and gynecologic pathology. Through her teaching and research, she contributes to medical education, pathology training, and scientific scholarship in Jordan. She obtained the rank of Professor at The University of Jordan on 25 December 2023.

Dr. Syed Z. Ali

Professor of Pathology and Radiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Director of Cytopathology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. An internationally renowned expert in thyroid and pancreatic cytopathology, he has authored over 340 scientific publications and more than 35 books and book chapters. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society of Cytopathology, President of the International Academy of Cytology, and a globally recognized educator with hundreds of invited lectures worldwide. His contributions have earned him numerous prestigious international awards in cytopathology and medical education.

Dr. Rofieda Alwaqfi

Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, USA. She has received advanced pathology training at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the University of Iowa, the University of Toronto, and Jordan University of Science and Technology. Her clinical expertise includes gynecologic and breast pathology, with a particular research focus on gynecologic mesenchymal tumors. She integrates morphologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular techniques to enhance tumor diagnosis and classification. She is also an active contributor to academic pathology and serves on the editorial boards of several leading pathology journals.

Dr. Aseel Al-Omari

Consultant Histopathologist in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Histopathology at Istishari Hospital, Amman, Jordan. She is a member and treasurer of the administrative committee of the Jordan Society of Pathologists. She is actively involved in pathology education and quality assurance, with focused interests in oncopathology, prostate pathology, and advancing artificial-intelligence applications in surgical pathology.

Dr. Hiba Alzoubi

Associate Professor of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine, Yarmouk University. She completed her pathology residency at King Abdullah University Hospital and fellowship training in neuropathology at Sapienza University of Rome. Her academic work focuses on digital pathology, computational pathology, and artificial-intelligence applications in histopathology and medical education.

Dr. Nazmi Kamal

Consultant Histopathologist and Hematopathologist with extensive leadership experience in laboratory medicine and hematopathology in Jordan. He previously served as Chairman of Princess Iman Laboratories and Head of Hematopathology at the Royal Medical Services, and as a Hematopathology Consultant at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC). He is President of the Jordan Society of Pathologists and a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), with recognized expertise in hematopathology, diagnostic pathology, and laboratory quality standards.

Dr. Anwar Rjoob

Associate Professor Faculty of Medicine, Jordan University of Science and Technology(J.U.S.T) Program Director (ACGMEi) Consultant pathologist/Hematopathology/Transfusion Medicine King Abdullah University Hospital (K.A.U.H)

Dr. Rame H. Khasawneh

Senior Consultant Molecular Genetic Pathologist, Molecular Geneticist, and Director of the Military Cancer Center, Jordan Royal Medical Services. He completed fellowship training in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Molecular Genetic Pathology at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, and is a Fellow of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. He has played a pioneering role in advancing genomic medicine in Jordan, including establishing the first Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program, implementing in-house Whole Exome Sequencing, developing next-generation sequencing diagnostic services, and leading the introduction of CAR T-cell therapy and cellular therapy programs. His research interests include cancer genomics, pharmacogenomics, hereditary disorders, molecular oncology, and precision medicine, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in molecular genetics and genomic medicine. He also serves as a member of the Jordan Population Genome Program Committee and has been instrumental in building national genomic and precision-medicine capabilities in Jordan.

Dr. Shirin Shaher Al-Mharat

Clinical Pathology and Microbiology Specialist at the Military Cancer Center, Jordan Royal Medical Services, with extensive experience in molecular diagnostics, genomics, and next-generation sequencing technologies. She is a Fellow in the Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program under the supervision of Dr. Rame H. Khasawneh, founder of the first Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program in Jordan. She has been actively involved in the implementation and development of advanced molecular diagnostic services, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), whole exome sequencing (WES), molecular oncology, and precision medicine initiatives. Her professional interests include cancer genomics, hereditary disorders, pharmacogenomics, molecular pathology, and genomic medicine, with active participation in research, training, and the advancement of genomic healthcare services in Jordan.

Dr. Abbas Agaimy

Professor of Pathology at the University of Erlangen, Germany, and an internationally recognized expert in diagnostic and surgical pathology. His areas of specialization include Soft Tissue Pathology, Head and Neck Pathology, Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology, Urological Pathology, and the Pathology of Hereditary Tumors. He has authored numerous influential publications and is widely known for his contributions to tumor classification, molecular pathology, and the characterization of rare neoplasms. His work has significantly advanced diagnostic accuracy and the understanding of hereditary and complex tumor syndromes.

Dr. Sura Al Rawabdeh

Consultant pathologist and head of histopathology department at Princess Iman Center for Research and Laboratory Sciences, Royal Medical Services, Jordan. She completed advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Pathology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, USA. Dr. Al Rawabdeh specializes in pediatric and surgical pathology, with a strong interest in diagnostic excellence, multidisciplinary patient care, and pathology education. She is actively involved in advancing pediatric pathology services and supporting clinical and academic initiatives within Jordan’s healthcare sector

Dr. Bayan Maraqa

Consultant Pathologist and Laboratory Medicine Specialist at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Amman, Jordan. She is highly specialized in Anatomic Pathology, Surgical Pathology, and Cytopathology, with extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of oncologic diseases. She is actively involved in multidisciplinary cancer care, pathology education, and quality-improvement initiatives, contributing to the advancement of diagnostic pathology and laboratory medicine in the region.

Dr. Ruba Y. Abed

Clinical Pathology Consultant and Board-Certified Hematopathologist with extensive experience in laboratory medicine, diagnostics, and medical leadership. She currently serves as Dean of The Academy by MedLabs, Jordan, where she leads professional education and training initiatives. Previously, she held senior leadership positions within MedLabs Group and the Jordanian Ministry of Health, including Laboratory Director and Consultant Hematopathologist.

Dr. Tareq Edaily

Professor and Consultant Pathologist at the University of Jordan, with extensive experience in academic and clinical pathology. His expertise encompasses histopathology, cytopathology, and hematopathology, and he plays an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. He is also engaged in pathology research and has contributed to numerous collaborative and multi-institutional projects aimed at advancing diagnostic pathology and medical knowledge.

Dr. Dua Abuquteish

Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Hashemite University and a Consultant GI Pathologist at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC), Jordan. She completed advanced fellowship training in gastrointestinal pathology at the University of Toronto (Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, and SickKids). Her clinical and academic interests focus on diagnostic GI and liver pathology, medical education, and multidisciplinary patient care.

Dr. Juan Putra

Pediatric pathologist at Boston Children's Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School. He serves as Director of the Pediatric Pathology Fellowship Program at Boston Children's Hospital and is actively involved in national and international collaborative research in pediatric liver and gastrointestinal pathology. His clinical and research interests focus on pediatric liver tumors, non-neoplastic liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. He has co-authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters. He serves on the Education Committee of the Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society and is a member of the Children's Oncology Group Liver Tumor Committee.
